What a weekend! I can’t believe our little bear is one. It happens so fast. Faster than they tell you it goes! We were so blessed to celebrate his first birthday with some friends and family this past Saturday. Charley was an absolute dream boat. He smiled and interacted with everyone and ate up the attention. You could tell he loved everything about that day and he loved the exciting atmosphere. He only tried like mayyyybe 4 bites of his cupcake. He was so intrigued by it, though! He was more interested in his normal, healthy snacks (yay! ha…we’ll see how long THAT last, though!), which made mama happy. He loved playing with his little friends and had fun opening presents. (Oh my word, we have so many toys now. SO. MANY. TOYS.) I was so happy just watching him all day. I may have been more excited than he was! 😉 He is going through a developmental leap so I didn’t know what to expect from him; he’s been extra clingy and does NOT like it when I leave the room for any reason whatsoever. He stayed pretty close to me, but he was amazing and didn’t seem overstimulated and he was all smiles.
I wasn’t as much of a mess as I thought I would be. I only got teary and had to hold back the tears once, which kind of surprised me. I have a feeling it will hit me at some point, though!! The whole weekend seemed surreal, as it’s crazy that a year has passed since his birth. This one year milestone makes me feel equally excited and somber. I miss tiny newborn Charley but also love the stage he is in right now; he is so much fun! Time is fleeting and I look back on his first year and remember so many precious moments and think of how easy it is to get caught up in things that don’t matter. At the end of the day, all that really matters to me is my family. Are they healthy? Did I love them well? Did I stop to soak in the in between moments? Did I give them enough attention and show them that I care and love them? I think working towards your dreams is awesome and I want all you mompreneurs to keep at it! Just don’t let it keep you from living life. One of my favorite quotes this year has been, “don’t get too busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
Ben and I gave Charley a tee pee for his birthday and he LOVES it! I’ll share pictures with you guys on the blog soon. The weekend got a bit crazy and we didn’t set it up before his party. Oops! But hey, it’s never a bad thing to spread out the birthday festivities. I’m all for a birthday week full of celebrating! 😉
Have a wonderful week and happy hump day!!
