I’ve been declaring that “everything happens for a reason” to just about everyone recently. You can’t go to that concert because it’s sold out? Happens for a reason. A site is sold out of the item you were looking for, so you have to order something else? Happens for a reason. You haven’t heard back from so and so? Happens for a reason.
Today, I found myself saying this over and over again as I encountered various events that I definitely would have preferred not to have happened.
- Rear ended just two hours after you went to the chiropractor for an adjustment & you got whiplash? Everything happens for a reason.
- Dropped your flat iron on your arm and burned yourself with what feels like just shy of a third degree burn? Happens for a reason, right?
Even as I write this I realize that there were reeeeally only two events that made today such a bummer…. evidence that if you focus on the negative, that’s all you’ll see!!
I’m not here to throw a pity party. Life happens and things could be much worse. I could be way worse off [the Christians and Christian children over in Iraq who are being persecuted & killed come to mind].
I still believe everything happens for a reason. Today I was just reminded how so often we are ignorant of the why, especially as we are in the midst of that experience.
May God grant us eyes to see the why in the midst of it all and give us a glimpse of His perspective! We are blessed and there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for.
TGIF and enjoy your weekend!!
